Terms of Service — Tyme Boxed
Terms of Service · Last updated: May 2026

The fine print, in plain English.

The legal agreement between you and Apps For Development. Read it before you buy or use the device.

Important notice

By purchasing a Tyme Boxed NFC device or downloading / using the Tyme Boxed application on iOS or Android, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before use.

01

Parties and acceptance

1.1 Parties. These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a binding legal agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Apps For Development, an unregistered business entity based in Hyderabad (Kukatpally), Telangana, India ("we," "us," or "our"), operating under the brand name Tyme Boxed.

1.2 Acceptance. By (a) purchasing a Tyme Boxed NFC device, (b) downloading or installing the Tyme Boxed application on iOS or Android, or (c) tapping or using any Tyme Boxed NFC device, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1.3 Eligibility. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Apps. If between 13 and 18, you may only use the Apps with verifiable parental or guardian consent. Users under 18 must have a parent or guardian review and agree to these Terms on their behalf.

1.4 Modifications. We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service following notice of any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

02

Description of service

2.1 The hardware. Tyme Boxed is a physical NFC (Near Field Communication) device sold for a one-time price of ₹999 INR. The device is designed to work in conjunction with the Tyme Boxed mobile application (iOS or Android) to allow users to activate screen-time blocking profiles.

2.2 The applications. The Tyme Boxed mobile applications for iOS and Android are made available free of charge, indefinitely, to any user of a Tyme Boxed device.

iOS App

Supports account creation via email OTP, Google OAuth, or Apple ID. Incorporates components from the open-source Foqos project (MIT License, github.com/awaseem/foqos), with our modifications including NFC verification and account-management features.

Android App

Supports email OTP or Google OAuth. Developed independently by Apps For Development from the ground up — no open-source projects, third-party SDKs, or external code libraries for its core functionality.

2.3 Multi-user & cross-platform policy. A single Tyme Boxed NFC device may be used by multiple individuals on separate devices or accounts, across both iOS and Android. The software licence is tied to the NFC device serial number, not to a single individual or operating system.

2.4 How verification works. Upon first use, the App sends the NFC device's unique serial number to our backend to verify it's authentic. Once verified, the status is stored in the device's local cache. Subsequent uses don't require a server call unless the local cache is cleared.

2.5 App Store / Play Store compliance. The iOS App is distributed via Apple's App Store; the Android App via Google Play Store (and, where applicable, direct APK download from our website). These Terms supplement Apple's and Google's respective platform terms. In a conflict, the relevant platform's terms govern with respect to your use of that distribution platform.

2.6 On-device blocking. The iOS App uses Apple's Screen Time API and Family Controls framework. The Android App uses Android's on-device app-blocking mechanism. On both platforms, app-blocking choices, selected applications, and related settings are stored exclusively on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

2.7 Open source attribution. The iOS App is based on Foqos, copyright © Ali Waseem, MIT Licence — included within the iOS App. Our modifications are identified separately. The Android App was written from scratch and contains no third-party open-source code in its core functionality.

03

Purchase, payment, and warranty

3.1 One-time price. ₹999 INR, inclusive of applicable taxes. No recurring fees or subscription charges for the software or its ongoing use on either iOS or Android.

3.2 Payment. All payments are processed through our authorised payment partners. By placing an order, you authorise us to charge your selected payment method for the full purchase price plus applicable shipping, handling, and taxes. Prices are quoted in INR.

3.3 Delivery. We endeavour to dispatch orders within 5 business days. Delivery timelines are estimates and are not guaranteed. Risk of loss passes to you upon delivery to the shipping carrier.

3.4 Returns and refunds. Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (India), you have the right to return a defective or damaged device within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or replacement. Non-defective returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery provided the device is in original, unused condition with all original packaging. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 7-10 business days of receiving the returned device.

3.5 Hardware warranty. We warrant the NFC device against defects in materials and workmanship for 6 months from the date of delivery. This warranty does not cover damage from misuse, physical accident, unauthorised modification, or normal wear and tear.

3.6 Consumer rights (India). Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes consumer rights afforded to you under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the Information Technology Act, 2000, or any other applicable Indian law.

04

Licence grant and restrictions

4.1 App licence. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, worldwide licence to download, install, and use the relevant App solely on (a) Apple-branded devices for the iOS App, or (b) Android-based smartphones or tablets for the Android App, that you own or control, and solely for your personal, non-commercial use in connection with an authenticated Tyme Boxed NFC device.

4.2 Restrictions. You must not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Apps' proprietary components (including our modifications to the iOS App and the entirety of the Android App, which is proprietary in full)
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with the NFC device verification or authentication mechanism on either platform
  • Clone, spoof, or simulate NFC serial numbers to bypass verification
  • Use the Apps for any commercial purpose without prior written consent
  • Distribute, resell, sublicense, or transfer the Apps to third parties
  • Use the Apps or device in any manner that violates applicable law

4.3 Open source components. The Foqos codebase included in the iOS App is governed by the MIT Licence — you retain all rights afforded by that licence. Our proprietary additions (specifically the NFC verification backend integration) are not covered by MIT. The Android App is proprietary in full.

05

Platform-specific provisions

5A. Apple Family Controls & Screen Time (iOS only)

5A.1 Entitlement. The iOS App has the com.apple.developer.family-controls (Distribution) entitlement granted by Apple. This allows use of Apple's Screen Time API, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks.

5A.2 User authorisation. The iOS App will request your explicit authorisation via Apple's FamilyControls.AuthorizationCenter before activating any blocking features. You may revoke this at any time via iPhone's Settings > Screen Time.

5A.3 No data transmission. Consistent with Apple's Family Controls entitlement requirements, the iOS App does not collect, transmit, or store any information about the applications or websites you choose to block. All blocking preferences are processed exclusively on-device.

5A.4 Apple third-party beneficiary. Apple Inc. is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms insofar as they relate to your use of the iOS App through Apple's App Store and Family Controls entitlement. Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you.

5B. Android permissions & on-device blocking

5B.1 Permissions. The Android App requests only those Android permissions that are strictly necessary — including NFC permission (to read the Tyme Boxed device), internet permission (to verify the device with our backend), and the Android system permissions required to enforce on-device app-blocking.

5B.2 User authorisation. You may revoke any permission granted to the Android App at any time through your device's system settings. Revoking required permissions will disable the blocking functionality.

5B.3 No data transmission. The Android App does not collect, transmit, or store any information about the applications or websites you choose to block. All blocking preferences are stored and enforced exclusively on your device.

5B.4 Google Play. To the extent the Android App is distributed via Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App or its support.

06

User responsibilities and prohibited use

You agree that you will not use the Apps or NFC device to:

  • Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Apps, our servers, or our networks
  • Attempt unauthorised access to our backend systems or another user's account or device configuration
  • Use the device or Apps to harm, monitor, or control another person's device without their informed consent
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any malicious or destructive code
  • Engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits any other person's use or enjoyment of the Apps
07

Intellectual property

7.1 Our IP. All intellectual property rights in the Tyme Boxed name, logo, branding, the proprietary modifications to the iOS App, and the entirety of the Android App are owned by Apps For Development. These Terms do not grant you any ownership interest in our intellectual property.

7.2 Open source. The iOS App is built upon the Foqos open-source project (MIT Licence, copyright © Ali Waseem). We gratefully acknowledge the Foqos project and its contributors. The Android App, by contrast, is wholly proprietary to Apps For Development.

7.3 Feedback. If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use and incorporate such feedback into our products without obligation or compensation to you.

08

Privacy and data

8.1 Privacy Policy. Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8.2 Account data. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, where provided by Google or Apple Sign-In (iOS only), your name. We don't store your Google or Apple passwords — authentication is handled directly by those services.

8.3 NFC serial number. We collect and store the unique NFC serial number of your device on our backend servers solely for the purpose of device authentication.

8.4 No blocking data collected. We do not collect, access, or transmit data about which apps you block, the duration of blocking sessions, or your Screen Time / Digital Wellbeing settings on either iOS or Android. That data remains solely on your device.

09

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

9.1 "As is" basis. The Apps are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Apps will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all iOS or Android versions.

9.2 No guarantee of effectiveness. The effectiveness of the Apps' blocking features depends on the underlying mobile OS — Apple's Screen Time API on iOS and Android's app-restriction capabilities on Android. OS-level updates or changes outside our control may affect functionality.

9.3 Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Apps For Development be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use or inability to use the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Tyme Boxed device (₹999 INR).

9.4 Consumer rights preserved. Nothing in this Section excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other applicable Indian law.

10

Termination

10.1 By you. You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the App from your device. Deletion does not entitle you to a refund of the hardware purchase price.

10.2 By us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Apps if you breach these Terms, or if we are required to do so by law or court order. We will provide reasonable notice where practicable.

10.3 Effect of termination. Upon termination, your licence to use the Apps ceases. Sections 4.3, 7, 9, 11, and 12 survive termination.

11

Governing law and dispute resolution

11.1 Governing law. These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

11.2 Informal resolution. Before initiating any formal dispute resolution, please contact support@tymeboxed.app with a written description of your complaint and give us 30 days to respond in good faith.

11.3 Jurisdiction. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Consumers also retain the right to file a complaint with the relevant Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

12

General provisions

12.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Apps For Development.

12.2 Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.

12.3 No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right shall not constitute a waiver of that right.

12.4 Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights freely.

12.5 Force majeure. We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, government actions, internet outages, or Apple / Google platform changes.

12.6 Language. These Terms are written in English. In the event of any conflict with a translated version, the English version prevails.
